What it is
A board pack is the curated set of metrics, bridges, and narrative the board uses to govern — not a dump of every dashboard. In SaaS it usually spans ARR, retention, P&L, cash, and outlook with traceable sources.
How it’s built
Freeze a period close, certify operating metrics (especially ARR and the waterfall), align GAAP views, write MD&A/variance commentary, and assemble slides or a living package from those locked numbers.
Where it breaks
Board packs break when tabs disagree, when ARR and cash stories are built in different workbooks, or when commentary cites numbers that changed after freeze. Directors notice inconsistency faster than missing vanity charts.
